Unlike most hybrid cars on the market, the petrol engine in this Range Extender model doesn't drive the wheels, it actually runs a small on-board generator that charges the batteries as you drive! This incredible piece of engineering allows the i3 to achieve just 13g/km of CO2. This car is built with lightweight materials, such as having a full carbon fibre chassis (technology usually only found in hypercars!) to help keep the wight down and the running costs even lower.
