The 4 Series Gran Coupe blends the 4 Series Coupe's sharp design with some of the 3 Series' practicality. This niche model combines the comfort of a four-door saloon with the looks of a coupé and the practicality of a hatchback's wide-opening tailgate. With its accurate and responsive steering, the 4 Series is easy to place on the road and enjoyable, too, and could encourage you to opt for the windier route home simply for the hell of it. It offers more feedback than the A5 Sportback, and its rear-drive layout gives it a real feeling of delicacy in corners. You sit nice and low for a sportier feel that helps you feel better connected to the road. It's easy to get the seat in a comfortable driving position with clear instruments and controls that are well laid out. Quality is good with switches that work smoothly and soft-touch plastics in the places you interact with regularly. Infotainment is taken care of by BMW's brilliantly intuitive iDrive system, which uses a rotary dial between the seats to access its many features. There's decent space for the driver and passenger up front, including lots of leg room and more shoulder room than in the C-Class Coupé.
