BMW 4 SERIES

With the 435i you have the near-perfect weight distribution and an extremely low centre of gravity. BMW have worked their traditional magic to make everything balanced. It is extremely rewarding to feel it turn one way as you go round a roundabout and then the other as you leave. Some cars wobble about; some lurch. A BMW just does as it's told. Switch to Sport and you get an altogether firmer, yet no less comfortable, set-up with meatier steering, keener turn in. The 4 series has a six-cylinder TwinPower petrol engine and develops 302bhp at 5800rpm and, perhaps more tellingly, 295lb ft of torque between 1200 and 5000rpm. What that means to you, is the acceleration is entirely convincing. Thanks to that broad torque band and the pin-sharp marshalling of the magnificent eight-speed auto. The beautiful black paint really offsets the stunning wheels and shines on a sunny day. It is a real subtle, head turner.
